The past eighteen months has challenged how we work together. Many of us are feeling disconnected, undervalued and burned out. And, though we are all working in different contexts with different challenges - we could all benefit from a short pause in our day to meaningfully connect with people over lunch.
Lunch Pods are themed, facilitated, discussions that provide the time and space for your team to build morale and camaraderie during their lunch break. Themes can be as light as Play, to as important as Culture, and can be matched to your team goals or your organization’s mission statement.
Lunch Pods:
Allow staff to spend time together outside of meetings and to learn about each other
Provide a social outlet and support
Build communication and listening skills
Create connection, build community and strengthen sense of belonging
Build empathy, trust and resilience
You could schedule a Lunch Pod as a one-off event, a weekly series or a monthly staff team-building activity. They are a great way to reconnect an existing team, introduce a new team member or to build trust within a newly formed team after organizational restructuring.
Whatever the occasion, it is an important investment in the humans that you work with everyday and in the community in which you spend so much of your time.
A few comments from past participants include:
"I enjoyed learning more about my colleagues on a more personal level. Connection in this context is very important to me."
"It was a breath of fresh air. Some downtime to learn about each other not related to work. It was a great time to share camaraderie with my colleagues and learn something new."
"[I enjoyed] getting to know my co-workers in a way I wouldn’t have otherwise."
