How are you building back community?

Like you, I had some lonely moments these past few years. Moments when I was separated from the people I love and where I could not participate in the communities I value most in my life. And though we may be in a new phase, we now must focus on the important work of rebuilding, repairing and renewing our communities.

But how do we do this? How do we build back the communities we have lost, begin to heal the increased societal divisions and make new friends in old cities? The good news is that many of us were able to spend the last few months back out in the world with friends, family and colleagues. COVID may still very much be a thing, but many of us are willing to figure out a way to safely be with each other.

What is also good news is that the models I have created are resonating with people and organizations. And I am in full on experimenting mode to see how they could work in different contexts.

A few examples of current programming include:

  • An in-person “Dinner with Neighbors” with participants from a street in Albany

  • A hybrid “Brunch Pod” with a team in LA and virtual participants from around the country

  • A virtual “Snack Pod” for a team based in Copenhagen

  • An upcoming in-person “Dinner & Dialogue” in Brooklyn

So what communities do you value in your life and what do you miss? Where would you like to build more community and how are you comfortable showing up to do this?

Please take a few minutes to fill out this brief survey so I can better understand how you are participating in your communities and how we can continue to build this one.
