Preserve

I grew up in a household that was serious about getting the most out of everything we purchased. From shoe goo (yes, that is a thing) to freezing loaves of bread to a semi-professional use of duct tape, we did our best to preserve what we had.

Connection

Much of navigating a city is figuring out how to carve out your own space among the masses. Whether it was walking around with ear buds in or not acknowledging the person 6 inches away from your face on the subway, we are usually fighting for our separation.

Plan B

A lot has changed in a week and so far there is only about one thing that is certain: we are going to be spending a lot more time at home these next few weeks. It may be alone, with a partner or with your family. This is going to be really weird.

Love

In fourth grade I missed Valentine’s Day at school because I was away with my family. I came home to terrible news. A boy in my class had brought flowers and chocolates for me to school that day. I was mortified. So what did I do? I never talked to that boy again. Valentine’s Day has never been the same since.

Enough

Getting take-out Chinese food was the ultimate treat when I was growing up. Even though my parents ordered plenty of food, my siblings and I moved fast to fill up our plates. There was this inherent feeling that there was not enough.
